ASPA supported 2026 National Gyeongkuk University Global Capstone Design program in Nigata, Japan, focusing on regional industry-university collaboration. Over the course of the program, students visited Nigata University, Sanjo University, regional industrial support organizations, and experienced the Tsubame-Sanjo manufacturing cluster. Students visited a range of companies, including Gyokusendo, Pearl Metal, Suwada Manufacturing, Takeda Mold Manufacturing, Esterlink, and Shin-Etsu Works, learning about traditional craftsmanship, precision manufacturing, product development, quality management, and digital transformation. These field visits allowed students to see how local companies combine traditional manufacturing expertise with technology, design, and global market strategies to build sustainable regional industries. The program concluded with team presentations and expert feedback, providing students with an opportunity to share their findings and propose ideas for regional development. By connecting classroom learning with real-world examples, the program broadened students’ understanding of regional innovation and the role of universities and industry in creating sustainable communities.
