The Hsinchu Science Park Bureau Held a Promulgation and
Unveiling Ceremony for Its New Official Title under the National Science and
Technology Council
The Hsinchu Science Park Bureau held a promulgation and
unveiling ceremony for its new official title under the National Science and
Technology Council on July 28, 2022, following the organizational
transformation of the Ministry of Science and Technology into the
"National Science and Technology Council" on July 27.
Director General Wayne Wang received the letter of
appointment and the official seal from Deputy Minister Tzong-Chyuan Chen and
joined hands with Chairman Jin-Gong Li of the Science Park Industry
Association, Senior Advisor Ming-Chih Hsuan, Legislator Si-Ming Lin, Legislator
Hong-An Gao, Deputy Mayor Shi-Zhen Li of Hsinchu City Government, and
Secretary-General Ji-Yuan Chen of Hsinchu County Government to unveil the
plaque of the Bureau.
Director General Wang said in his speech that the Hsinchu
Science Park Bureau under the National Science and Technology Council will keep
strengthening competitiveness of Taiwan's high-tech industry development,
acting as strong backing of science park manufacturers, supporting development
of advanced semiconductor processing, and accelerating localization of industry
supply chain and resilience, so as to solidify foundation of domestic high-tech
industry backbone. Besides retaining niches of hardware industries, DG Wang
said, the Park will also expand development of software industries, via
implementation of existent standard factory renovation and X base development,
so as to meet needs of new startups and software industries.
The Hsinchu Science Park was established at the end of 1980.
By 2021, the turnover has exceeded NT$1.5 trillion, with more than 600
manufacturers and nearly 170,000 employees, continuing to drive local high-tech
industry development and economic prosperity. Organizational changes of the
Bureau symbolize a new era of Taiwan's science and technology industry
development.
