WELCOME MESSAGE BY THE CHAIRMAN

OF THE BOARD OF SKOLKOVO FOUNDATION

Dear sirs and madams,

On behalf of the Skolkovo Foundation, let me express you my deepest respect and assure you that it is a great honor to host the 22nd Annual Conference of Asian Science Park Association in October, 2018.

Being an ASPA active member, Skolkovo plays an integral role in the innovation ecosystem in Russia and includes over 1.800 pre-selected high-tech startups within our four innovation focus areas: Biomedicine, Energy efficiency, IT, Nuclear technologies, Space and telecommunications.

Skolkovo develops its presence in various Russian regions, especially it is worth noting the potential of the Far East innovative development, where Skolkovo opened its office in 2015. Taking in account the before mentioned, as well as the new Russian Technology Innovation Park (Russky Technopark) was launched on the Russky Island in Vladivostok city in September 2017, the city, being the financial, political, cultural and economic center of the Russian Far East, is the perfect place to host the 22nd ASPA Annual Conference.

We have conducted extensive research on various themes and came to conclusion that the topic “Impact of Global trends on the Development of Asian STPs” is important enough to deserve a deeper observation. It is crucial to stay up to date with these changes, and respond accordingly. Development of smart-technologies, digitalization, increasing amount of remote employees, increasing attention to environmental problems. How these trends will change science and technology parks? What will be the future of science and technology parks?

We, as host, will provide unforgettable conference with the perfect environment for sharing knowledge and expertise among the Asia’s great science parks. We will attract talents from Russia and beyond to headline the conference and make it one to remember for years.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I warmly welcome you to the ASPA 2018 in Vladivostok city.

Mr. Igor Drozdov

Chairman of the Board of Skolkovo Foundation
