The International Corporation 3M Could Become Partner to

Skolkovo Innovation Center

During a visit to Skolkovo, the CEO of 3M Russia, Mats Friberg, discussed this with the chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation, Arkady Dvorkovich. Top corporate managers also took part in the discussions the senior vice president to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Lars Hansen, and the director of cooperation with government agencies in Russia and the CIS, Evgeny Makhartov.

Arkady Dvorkovich led the 3M delegation on an excursion of one of the innovation center’s main facilities Eastern Europe’s largest technopark. He showed the guests Skolkovo’s territory at the interactive screen, combining 400 hectares of science and business centers, an institute, a school, residential quarters, and all the necessary infrastructure for work and life.

During the discussions, the two sides covered the possibility of partnership relations.

The potential creation of a 3M office on the innovation center territory, according to Mr. Friberg, could be an essential step for the company in building cooperation with large business partners and clients from Skolkovo. Among them are Sibur, TMK, Gazprom Neft, Boeing, ENEL, Phoenix Contact, and FANUC and KUKA robotics companies. Also, Mr. Friberg noted that the corporation is interested in developing its medical direction in partnership with the Moscow Medical Cluster.

The meeting was a logical continuation of the existing cooperation. 3M Russia is already taking an active part in the Foundation’s events. This year, the company became the official partner to the international development and implementation program, the GreenTech Startup Booster. The company’s future plans are a series of conferences at Skolkovo concerning labour security.
