Busan TP signed MOU with Electric Vehicle Industry Association
Busan Technopark (Busan TP) announced on the 18th that it
recently signed a business agreement with the Korea Electric Vehicle Industry
Association (Chairman Park Jae-hong) for the development of 'electric vehicle
battery circular economy and electric vehicle infrastructure'.
According to Busan TP, the global electric vehicle market
has grown tenfold in the last five years, and electric vehicle sales worldwide
are expected to exceed 10 million this year. The distribution of electric
vehicles in Busan also recorded 15,330 units by March this year, showing a 132%
increase compared to last year.
With the growth of the electric vehicle market, it is
expected that a large amount of used batteries will be generated from 2025, and
the 'reusable battery' market is expected to emerge. Accordingly, in order to
secure leadership in the waste battery market, tasks such as △establishing a
new business model △preoccupying waste batteries △securing competitiveness in
recycling technology emerged.
Busan TP plans to promote the 'E-Mobility Industry Ecosystem
Revitalization Project Using Reusable Batteries' from next year to support the
transition of the electric vehicle industry ecosystem of auto parts companies
and entry into new markets through the reuse of local batteries.
The signing of the agreement with the Korea Electric Vehicle
Industry Association was carried out against this background.
The Korea Electric Vehicle Industry Association is an
organization that conducts activities to create an electric vehicle ecosystem
centered on small and medium-sized companies in the electric vehicle field.
According to the agreement, the two organizations will
cooperate in research and development, commercialization, training of experts,
and exchanges for the development of electric vehicle battery circular economy
and electric vehicle infrastructure.
In particular, in the process of preparing for the
agreement, executives and employees of Busan TP, such as Director Kim
Hyung-gyun, Future Transportation Device Technology Director Kim Ho-jin, and
Smart Mobility Technology Center head Kim Yong-hyu, visited PM Grow, which is
the head of the Korea Electric Vehicle Industry Association, and explained
Busan TP's support and vision. It is known that the PMGrow is a company specializing in electric vehicle battery
service platforms, and it is expected to cooperate with related industries in
the future by attracting tenants to the Busan TP branch complex.
Busan TP Director Kim Hyung-kyun said, “With this agreement,
we will prepare a full cycle corporate support system for electric vehicle
battery manufacturing-reuse-recycling, and create new businesses such as
electric vehicle battery subscription economy systems as well as electric
vehicle platform services, which will greatly vitalize the local electric
vehicle market. “I think it will also play a big role in creating quality jobs
for local youth,” he said.
